New Years in Pictures

this was my favourite picture because it shows how much the people are excited
and also the balloons look cool..... :)

the event is of people freeing balloons to celebrate the New Years
at Tokyo's Zojoji temple on Jan.1, 2011

the image documents the event by capturing the moment when the poeple let go of their balloons
and wish their new year's wishes
(and the people at the bottom taking pictures look really excited)

the subject is obviously the balloons that are set free

the subject is emphasized by repetition and also framing with the people on the bottom
the people on the bottom makes the balloons stand out :)

my new year's resolutions :
1. get fit
2. get successful academically
3. be a responsible person

Year in Photos

this picture was my favourite because it makes you take another look at the picture,
including the trees on the back

the event was a volcanic erruption in Muntilan, central Java, Indonesia
from Mount Merapi
the farmer is walking through the ash-covered cornfield
(Nov.8th, 2010)

the image perfectly documents the event because it shows how the crops were ruined by the erruption
and the farmer's devastated state
the palm trees in the back also shows the serious situation

the subject is the farmer, but I think that the subject is more of the crops
because that's the most important aspect of the people's lives

repitiion plays a huge role in the picture, and also the emphisis on the subject(farmer)

_best shots_

many shots were shaky because of lack of light + somehow,
as I put the aperture up, the more shakier it got! D:
so these are the FEW shots that were actually recognizable :P

Aperture

Define the following, put in your journal:
1. Aperture/F-stop- aperture controls the amount of light let in(the same in the optical system)

2. Aperture Priority- makes one set aperture, but camera chooses shutter speed

3. Ambient Light Ambient light is the available light in a room, whether by natural or mechanical sources.

 4. Artificial Light- gives one complete control over the direction, quality, and strength of the light

5.  ASA/ISO/Film Speed -

6. Bracket - produces a series of images that are both darker and light than the metered exposure

7. Depth of Field - the distance between the closest distance and the farthest distance that is in focus
(is controlled by the f stop, the focal length of the lens, subject distance from the camera and the subject distance from the background)

8.Exposure Triangle -

9.How to Control Depth of Field -

 F number control

 Subject Distance

Focal Length

10. Light Meter -  light meter is often used to determine the proper exposure for a photograph
